The Jewish Museum of Australia

Acumen worked with the Museum to design the four original permanent galleries – Belief & Ritual, Jewish Year, Australian History and Timeline Galleries –  as well as a number of temporary exhibitions.  The Museum
tells the Jewish experience from a distinctly Australian perspective.
Our aim from the outset was to do justice to the often highly-charged stories.

Our Christmas Island

Originally developed as a temporary exhibit on Christmas Island with a view to touring it around Australia, the Centre has proved such a hit with the locals, that it is now a permanent fixture.  For many of the displays we used the Islanders to tell their own rich stories about this small speck in the Indian Ocean.  Historical and contemporary artefacts are displayed alongside interactive programs, and visitors can enter an immersive space which envelopes them in wondrous images of the spectacular environment.

League of Legends: 100 years of Rugby League in Australia
National Museum of Australia

Acumen has worked alongside the National Museum of Australia to create a number of temporary or travelling exhibitions.   The League of Legends was an evocative exhibition that celebrated the centenary of Rugby League in Australia and how it helped shape us as a nation.  The exhibit debuted at the National Museum in Canberra and went on tour for 18 months around Australia to great acclaim.

Flagstaff Hill Maritime Village

Flagstaff Hill, situated in Warrnambool, is the premier tourist attraction in south-western Victoria.  Acumen conceived and designed the visitor centre, retail area and dramatic night-time show.  We used a mix of traditional display, interactive and multimedia audio visual techniques to bring the many stories of the Shipwreck Coast vividly to life and in the process enhance the visitor experience of this part of the world.   Flagstaff Hill has won multiple tourist awards.
