Perth Mint
Acumen is currently developing the Perth Mint visitor interpretive centre. An important adjunct to this is the Mint’s retail area. We felt that it was essential that the retail space was transformed so that it was sympathetic to the historical building in which it’s housed; that it fulfilled the needs of modern retailing and the high expectations of today’s consumers; and, that it both extended the story and complemented the second stage of the redevelopment, the interpretive centre. The Perth MInt project is an exciting work in progress – revisit our site to see how it is progressing.
Eyes on Brighton
While retail design isn’t Acumen’s primary focus, many of the disciplines we use in interpretive design apply equally to retail: communicating stories, engaging visitors, effective use of space, traffic flows, and so on. Eyes on Brighton is an optometrist and eyewear retailer with a problematic layout: a long, narrow area. Acumen used the space to advantage by creating an immersive ‘laneway’ within the store with large, bright display areas along one side and clearly defined areas for customer service along the other.
Hoxton Hair
Acumen transformed a Victorian-era shop into a contemporary, stylish,
place-to-be-seen hairdressing salon. We created specific customer service areas for styling, washing, and colouring, each with their own ambience.
